Covers and dials for the front panel of the breastpump

All Pump In Style Breast Pumps puchased prior to Summer 2003 will have a front panel with a large circular diaphragm cap, that seals like a Tupperware dish. It is the part that you hook the tubes onto. Even though the new pumps do not have this same diaphragm cap set up, these parts will contime to be available for purchase. If your pump has this type of diaphragm cap you must replace it with the same part. It cannot be switched out to the new style face plate.
The dial that is used to control the vacuum is also replaceable -- that is called the vacuum regulator disk.
Finally, the port cap can be replaced. This is the little white cap that is used to block one of the ports when you want to single pump.

Starting in Summer 2003 Medela has changed the diaphragm cap to be the same as the Pump In Style Traveler and Pump In Style Companion Breast Pumps. It is purchased as a single unit.
The most recent change was made in 2005. These new models have a rectangular face plate with the words Pump In Style printed in purple.

	The complete 3-piece diaphragm cap To make things easier, this includes the diaphragm cap, the vacuum regulator disc and the port cap. Use tube #8007212 with this diaphragm cap. New for 2009 - Bottles and Bottle Sets with WIDE BASE nipples

Medela bottles are BPA free

As of March 2009 all new Medela products that include bottle nipples will contain the new wide base nipple. This nipple is softer than previous nipples and the shape better mimics the nursing experience for baby. This nipple will work with all Medela bottles, old and new styles. However, because of the wider base on the new nipple it must be used with the new collar for wide based nipple, and the new cap for wide based nipple. Over the next few months Medela will gradually phase out all the 2008 nipples currently available in bottle sets and replace them with the new wide based nipple.
What about the collection bottles and solid lids? They have not changed. Medela bottles and lids from older bottle sets and pumps will work with the new wide base nipples, wide base collars, wide base discs, and wide base caps. Medela bottles and solid lids provided with the 2009 sets are indentical to those in the 2008 sets.

Medela Bottle Sets and Bottle Parts with 2008 nipples

Each collection bottle provided in the Pump In Style breastpump consists of a bottle and solid lid. Instead of a solid lid, a bottle collar and nipple can be used, so you can feed the baby direct from the bottle. A bottle cap will cover the nipple unit for storage. In addition a bottle disc is available. This seals the bottle when a bottle collar is being used, and the nipple is removed.
The 2008 Medela bottle parts shown - nipple, collar, disc, and cap are interchangeable with one another, and with older bottle parts, but are NOT interchangeable with the new 2009 wide base nipple, wide base collar, wide base disc, and wide base cap shown above. However, all Medela bottles and solid bottle lids are interchangeable and have a universal thread. The bottles and lids provided with the 2008 and 2009 sets are exactly the same.

Pump In Style Power Cord

In order to power your pump you will need a transformer. If your pump suddenly stops working, it may be that you need to replace your transformer. If you find yourself in a situation where you do not have access to an electric outlet, you might also want to consider getting a vehicle lighter adapter or a battery pak.

Vehicle Lighter Adapter


If you do not have access to an electric outlet, you can still use your Pump In Style, or your Lactina Breastpump. Use this vehicle lighter adapter to power your pump using your cigarette lighter in your car. It is very easy to use -- just like an extension cord. Three 5 1/2oz. cooling elements are used in the cooler compartment of the regular Pump In Style Breast Pump (up until the introduction of the new 2005 model)to keep breast milk cool. The DayCarrier Kit is an insulated portable cooler carrier that comes complete with 4 bottles, 4 solid bottle lids, 4 bottle collars and discs, 4 orthodontic slow-flow nipples, 2 bottle caps, and one contour cooling element. It is the removable cooler compartment provided as part of the Pump In Style Original Professional Breast Pump since 2005 and also the Pump In Style Advanced breast pumps. It will not fit in the older models of the Pump In Style but can still be a nice accessory to those pumps.
