Breastshields, bottles, tubes, and stands

This section shows all the replacement parts available for the Pump In Style Advanced Breastpump that we have been able to obtain from Medela.
PersonalFit breastshields are purchased in pairs, and are available in five sizes - small, 21mm; medium, 24mm; large, 27mm; extra large, 30mm, and XXL 36mm. Breastshield connectors provide a four way connection between the breastshield, the pump tubing, the pale yellow valve and white membrane, and the collection bottle. The PersonalFit Connector is used with all Advanced Pump In Style Breastpumps - it is the same regardless of the size shield being used. An alternative to the PersonalFit breastshield is the SoftFit shield, composed of soft silicone, which massages the breast while pumping.
At the base of each breastshield connector is a yellow valve, with a white membrane. The pump will not function without this attachment. Many women like to keep extra supplies of these, particularly the white membranes.
Also shown in this section are the standard breastshield options. The standard shields are a one piece shield -- they do not come apart into a shield (cone) and connector like the PersonalFit or SoftFit shields. They are more economical to purchase, especially if you purchase the Breastpump Accessory Set, but only come in the medium (24mm) size. If you need a different size breastshield you will need to purchase PersonalFit shields AND connectors separately to replace the standard shields.
As far as collection bottles are concerned, this section shows the most popular purchase - the 5oz. bottle with the solid yellow lid. For complete bottle sets see the Medela Bottle Sets sections further down the page (one section for the new 2009 sets and one for the older style bottle sets). For individual bottle parts (including nipples, collars, and caps) go to the Bottle Parts section near the bottom of this page.

Diaphragm cap assembly for the front control panel

The diaphragm cap assembly and port cap shown below are the only parts, that fit on the front of the pump, that are available for sale from Medela. If the frame underneath the diaphragm cap or the actual diaphragm (also under the diaphragm cap) are broken, you also need to call Medela's Customer Service Department and discuss that with them. 	Diaphragm cap assembly for Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pump (with port cap) for pumps made before summer 2005. This face plate has now been discontinued, and is no longer available from Medela. This face plate has small icons shaped like a breastshield and bottle on the right hand side - it is the only Advanced pump that has that particular icon. Medela has replaced this faceplate with the 2006 design faceplate below. The tubes attach in a different position on the 2006 faceplate but that will not affact the function of the pump. Transformer for Pump In Style Advanced Breast Pumps

In order to power your pump you will need a transformer. If your pump suddenly stops working, it may be that you need to replace your transformer. If you find yourself in a situation where you do not have access to an electric outlet, you can use the battery pak provided with the pump, or you might consider getting a vehicle lighter adapter.

The transformer for the Advanced Pump In Style Breast Pumps made 2003 -- 2007 is different to the transformer used on other Pump In Style models - they are not interchangeable.
Available in 110V for USA circuits, 220V for UK circuits, and 220V for European circuits. Look for the item number on the back of your old transformer or on the faceplate of your breast pump where the power cord plugs into the pump.

If you do not have access to an electric outlet, you can still use your Pump In Style, or your Lactina Breastpump. New for 2009 - Bottles and Bottle Sets with WIDE BASE nipples

Medela bottles are BPA free

As of March 2009 all new Medela products that include bottle nipples will contain the new wide base nipple. This nipple is softer than previous nipples and the shape better mimics the nursing experience for baby. This nipple will work with all Medela bottles, old and new styles. However, because of the wider base on the new nipple it must be used with the new collar for wide based nipple, and the new cap for wide based nipple. Over the next few months Medela will gradually phase out all the 2008 nipples currently available in bottle sets and replace them with the new wide based nipple.
What about the collection bottles and solid lids? They have not changed. Medela bottles and lids from older bottle sets and pumps will work with the new wide base nipples, wide base collars, wide base discs, and wide base caps. Medela bottles and solid lids provided with the 2009 sets are indentical to those in the 2008 sets.

Each collection bottle provided in the Pump In Style breastpump consists of a bottle and solid lid. Instead of a solid lid, a bottle collar and nipple can be used, so you can feed the baby direct from the bottle. A bottle cap will cover the nipple unit for storage. In addition a bottle disc is available. This seals the bottle when a bottle collar is being used, and the nipple is removed.
The 2008 Medela bottle parts shown - nipple, collar, disc, and cap are interchangeable with one another, and with older bottle parts, but are NOT interchangeable with the new 2009 wide base nipple, wide base collar, wide base disc, and wide base cap shown above. However, all Medela bottles and solid bottle lids are interchangeable and have a universal thread. The bottles and lids provided with the 2008 and 2009 sets are exactly the same.
