Bottles, bags, and other collection and storage ideas

Once you have collected your breast milk, you need a way to store it. You can, of course leave it in the breastpump collection bottle, but if you plan to build up a stock of milk you might prefer to use the Collection, Storage, and Freezer Bags (CSF bags). For small babies, the small (80cc) bottles might be an option. This page lists both bottles, individually and in sets, as well as collection bags and other options.

Medela redesigned their old style CSF bags in 2007. These new style disposable collection, storage, freezer bags work with any Medela pump. Each bag has a yellow self stick band to attach the collection bag to the breastshield connector. The new bags are leak proof and have an easy to close zipper top. These collection, storage, freezer bags are made of a special plastic that retains the breastmilk’s beneficial properties, are double-walled for long and safe breastmilk storage, and are pre-sterilized for your immediate use. The Mother's Milk Mate is a safe, convenient, and organized way for storing breast milk. The bottled milk can be kept in the freezer or refrigerator. Bottle Parts and Baby Bottle Sets

Medela makes two sizes of bottles -- the small nursery size bottle that holds just 80cc milk (about 2 2/3 oz) and the 150cc bottle (5 ounces). The five ounce bottles are the ones provided with Medela Breast Pumps. This section lists individual Medela bottle parts and bottle sets available for purchase.
The bottle can be closed using a solid lid, or with a bottle collar and disc. The disc can then be replaced by the bottle nipple to feed baby direct from the bottle. A bottle cap is used to cover and protect the nipple unit.
All the Medela bottle parts shown are interchangeable with one another, and the bottles have a universal thread. There is no difference in the solid bottle lids listed except the color (and price).
